Rundell's Two Wins Good For Weekly Award
SAINT PAUL (February 14, 2012) – St. Scholastica goaltender Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta / Lacombe Composite / Alaska-Fairbanks) has been named Player of the Week for the week ending February 12. Rundell backstopped the Saints to a pair of wins last weekend that secured the number-2 seed in the upcoming Peters Cup Playoffs.
St. Scholastica approached last weekend controlling their destiny to take the number-2 seed, and Rundell was perfect in the first game of the two-game set. He put up a 1-0 shutout on the road against UW-River Falls, which included a 15-save performance in the second period. He also turned away two Falcon power plays.
The pressure was on again Saturday night, and Rundell was up to the task. He allowed two goals in the opening ten minutes, but settled down and finished with an impressive 35 saves in a 5-3 win at UW-Eau Claire. Rundell made double-digit saves in each period while picking up his 11th win of the season.
On the year Rundell has a 2.56 goals against average and a .910
save percentage inside an 11-7-4 record. He has allowed one
goal or less in five games and ranks second in the NCHA in minutes
played with over 1300.
