UWEC's Jundt, UWRF's Yuel Named Scholar-Athletes

SAINT PAUL, MINN. – Tyler Jundt of UW-Eau
Claire (Williston, N.D.) and Jason Yuel (at right)
of UW-River Falls (Winnipeg, MB) have been named 2012 NCHA
co-Scholar-Athlete winners, conference Commissioner Bill
Kronschnabel announced today. Jundt is a business finance
major with a 3.8 grade point average; Yuel is majoring in economics
and carries a 3.77 GPA.
Jundt is a two-time NCHA All-Academic winner and has been on the
Academic Distinction and Dean’s List at UW-Eau Claire since
2010. He has been captain of the Blugolds for the past two
seasons and received the UWEC Richard G. O’Brien Award last
year in recognition of excellence in the classroom and on the
ice. Jundt has volunteered in several capacities during his
time at UW-Eau Claire, including local youth hockey and book
drives. This season Jundt was named to the All-NCHA team
while being a major contributor on a Blugold blue line that reached
the semifinals of the Peters Cup Playoffs.
Yuel is a three-time NCHA All-Academic winner and an eight-time
Dean’s List member at UW-River Falls. He has captained
the Falcons for three seasons and has won multiple awards for
excellence in economics at UW-River Falls. Yuel has been a
volunteer speaker at a local middle school and has participated in
“Bike for Kids” programs. This year Yuel was
voted to the All-NCHA team after posting 27 points in 27 games for
the Falcons and leading an offense on a team that was ranked as
high as third in the nation this season.
The Scholar-Athlete Award is given annually to a senior or seniors
who demonstrate excellence both on and off the ice, who earn a
minimum GPA of 3.5 and who are in their final year of
eligibility.
