Heck's Hat Earns Player of the Week

UW-Stevens Point forward Kyle Heck (Plover, Wis. / SPASH) has been named Men's Player of the Week, the NCHA league office announced this afternoon.  Heck had one of his best nights as a collegian last Friday when he scored three times against defending conference champion St. Norbert in leading the Pointers to victory.

Heck scored a pair of first period goals on Friday, putting UWSP up 2-0 at the end of the frame.  The goals came at 7:06 and 14:08.

The hat trick would not be completed until the third period, when Heck scored to make it 5-1 UW-Stevens Point and send the crowd of 1,268 on their feet.

The win was the first of the year for the Pointers, who had lost their season opener a week before at Marian.  Heck and UWSP will return home this weekend for non-conference games against Augsburg and Gustavus.

Other outstanding performers from last weekend:
Joey Massingham, UWS - Sophomore forward posted two goals and an assist as the 'Jackets grabbed 3-of-4 points from St. Scholastica.

Scott Lewan, UWRF - Made 37 saves in back-to-back shutouts of Finlandia.
