Player of the Week: SNC's Keefer

SAINT PAUL (November 22, 2011) -- St. Norbert forward Cody Keefer (Grayling, Mich.) has been named Player of the Week in the NCHA Men's Conference for the week ending November 20th.  Keefer scored three goals and added an assist in two road wins for the Green Knights last weekend.

Keefer put SNC up 1-0 in the second period last Friday against UW-Eau Claire.  With the Green Knights clinging to a 2-1 lead in the third, Keefer struck again, providing a cushion his team would require to win.  His third period tally was the game-winner in a 3-2 victory.

Last Saturday Keefer played well again, assisting on a goal that tied the game in the second period and then putting St. Norbert up 3-2 at 17:37 of the same frame.  That goal made it back-to-back game-winners for Keefer.

Moves Like Jaeger: UW-Stevens Point goalie Brandon Jaeger made 74 saves on 78 shots last weekend at #5 UW-River Falls.  The 31 and 43 save performances led to a coveted road point for UWSP.  The Pointers tied the Falcons 2-2 on Friday and lost 2-1 on Saturday.

At the Other End of the Rink: UW-River Falls goalie Scott Lewan's save totals didn't equal those of Jaeger, but they were still very impressive.  Lewan made 24 saves in the 2-2 overtime tie against UWSP, then followed up on Saturday with 30 saves in a 2-1 victory.  UW-River Falls remained at #5 in this week's nation poll.

Standing Tall: UW-Superior split its series with UW-Stout at home last weekend, but goalie Drew Strandberg was excellent in both games for the 'Jackets.  Strandberg made 26 saves in 4-1 win that was closer than the score indicates, and then made 23 saves ina  2-1 overtime loss.  On the year his GAA is 2.16.
