Men's Weekly Release: UWEC's Singer takes weekly award
Jordan Singer (Lino Lakes, Minn. / Centennial) of UW-Eau Claire has been selected Player of the Week in the NCHA Men's Conference, the league announced today. Singer helped the Blugolds to a pair of non-conference wins last weekend, improving his team's record to 3-1.
On the weekend Singer banked three goals and one assist. He scored the eventual game-winning goal on a penalty shot in a 5-0 win over Bethel last Friday. The next night in a 5-3 win over #10 Hamline, Singer put the Blugolds up 2-1 at 7:55 of the second period. He then assisted on a goal just under four minutes later. The Pipers chipped the deficit down to just one goal into the third until Singer answered with his second of the game, this one coming at 5:35.
On the year, Singer leads the Blugolds in points with four goals and two assists in four game played.
Corcoran-for-Four: St. Scholastica's Brett Corcoran put up three goals and an assist last weekend in two non-conference wins for the Saints. He scored a goal and assisted on another in a 4-2 win over St. Mary's, then scored twice in a 9-1 blowout of St. Olaf.
Strong Showing, Plenty of Goals: In the first interlock weekend of play with the MIAC, the NCHA posted a 10-3-1 record, with several games featuring plenty of scoring. NCHA teams scored seven or more goals in four games over the weekend, the greatest barrage being St. Scholastica's 9-1 win over St. Olaf on Saturday. The scoring average per game for NCHA teams was 4.7; UW-River Falls team average was 7.5.
