Waidacher Named Player of the Week

SAINT PAUL (February 14, 2012) – St. Scholastica forward Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland / ZSC Lions, Swiss U18 National) has been named Player of the Week in the NCHA Women’s Conference for the week ending February 12.  The Saints scored six goals last weekend at Concordia-Wisconsin; Waidacher factored in on five of them while helping the Saints pick up three points and remain in control of the fourth playoff seed.

Down 2-0 in the second period last Friday, Waidacher put the Saints on the scoreboard at 15:26.  The even-strength goal was her 15th of the year.  That score held until late in the third, when Waidacher assisted on the game-tying goal at 19:36.  Jordy Klimek scored with the extra attacker and St. Scholastica escaped with a point after a scoreless overtime session.

On Saturday Waidacher posted three points, including a pair of goals, as the Saints defeated the Falcons 4-2 to cap the weekend.  She assisted on the first goal of the game, scored midway through the second and again early in the third.  All three of her goals in the series came at even strength.

Around the Rinks ... Playoff Picture

UW-River Falls: Falcons have clinched regular season title and top seed.
Home Ice: UW-Superior, Lake Forest and St. Scholastica control their own destiny for the 2-3-4 seeds and a home playoff series.  But the Yellowjackets and Saints play this weekend, meaning at least one of them will end up with two points or less.

Home Ice 2: Lake Forest clinches home ice with one point at Adrian … UW-Superior clinches home ice with one point against St. Scholastica or if Lake Forest gains one point at Adrian … UW-Stevens Point could gain home ice with a sweep over Concordia-Wisconsin and if St. Scholastica and Adrian get swept.
UW-Eau Claire: Blugolds clinch playoff bid with one point versus Finlandia.
