UW-Superior's Olson Named Scholar-Athlete
SAINT PAUL, MINN. – NCHA Commissioner Bill Kronschnabel
announced today the winner of the 2012 Women’s Conference
Scholar-Athlete Award is Ashlee Olson of
UW-Superior. Olson is an exercise science major with a
sterling 3.823 grade point average. On the ice, she has
played in 109 career games and currently has 11 points this
season.
Olson serves as captain of the Yellowjackets, who finished second
in the NCHA this season under her leadership. She was named
team Rookie of the Year during her freshman campaign in 2008-09, is
a two-time NCHA All-Academic winner and a four-time Honor Roll and
Dean’s List member at UW-Superior. She has been a
member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee since 2009 and
volunteers her time in a Superior elementary school reading
program, food drives and campus clean-up projects.
Olson is currently on a five-game point streak as the
Yellowjackets continue in the O’Brien Cup Playoffs this
weekend. She recorded multiple points in both games of
UW-Superior’s series sweep of St. Norbert last weekend in the
quarterfinals.
The Scholar-Athlete Award is given annually to a senior who has a
minimum GPA of 3.5 and is in their final year of eligibility.
