SAINT PAUL (February 7, 2012) – Lake Forest forward Jessica Dare (Whitmore Lake, Mich. / Belle Tire) has been selected Player of the Week in the NCHA Women’s Conference for the week ending February 5.  Dare factored into all three of the Foresters goals last weekend as her team picked up three points in a critical series with St. Scholastica.

Dare and the Foresters wasted no time last Saturday night, scoring twice in the opening minutes of the contest.  Dare assisted on a goal at 2:33 of the period and then scored at 3:07 to make the score 2-0.  The hot start would be extinguished by the Saints later in the first, but the goals proved crucial as the teams finished in a 2-2 tie.

In the finale Sunday afternoon, Dare assisted on the lone goal in the hockey game – an even strength goal by Morgan Pope at 5:43 of the second period. 

The three-point weekend for Lake Forest solidified its hold on third place in the NCHA and kept it on the heels of second place UW-Superior.  Dare is now second in scoring for the Foresters with 14 points.

Around the Rinks ...

Clinched: UW-River Falls, UW-Superior and Lake Forest all clinched playoff bids with their conference points last weekend.  UW-River Falls clinches the regular season title outright with two points this weekend.

Outstanding: Kelly Salis bagged five points last weekend while helping the Lady Bulldogs sweep a crucial series with UW-Stevens Point … St. Norbert’s Lotta Haarala had two goals and two assists in leading the Green Knights past Finlandia … UW-Superior’s Kerry Mayhew recorded seven points in three games last week in wins over #5 Gustavus and Marian.
