Women's Weekly Release: National Nod
SAINT PAUL (November 29, 2011) -- NCHA teams are scattered about the latest USCHO.com rankings report, with UW-River Falls and Adrian representing the conference in the top ten.
UW-River Falls was ranked fifth for the fifth straight time this week. The Falcons picked up a non-conference victory last week over St. Olaf, moving their record to 7-0-0.
Adrian fell from ninth to tenth despite being idle last week. The Lady Bulldogs are 4-3-1 this season, their losses coming in a sweep by UW-River Falls and a split with St. Norbert.
UW-Superior was also idle last week but still fell out of the top ten. Voters combined to give the Yellowjackets 10 points, just five shy of #10 Adrian. UW-Superior is currently 3-2-2.
Two other teams - St. Scholastica and Lake Forest - received at least one vote in the poll, making a total of five teams appearing on the rankings report.
Wednesday Nighter: Concordia-Wisconsin travels to De Pere to take on St. Norbert on Wednesday. The teams played to an overtime tie and a 3-2 CUW victory last season while finishing just three points apart in the standings. The Falcons are led by Hilary Christiansen and Emily Heckendorf (8 points each) while the Green Knights' Ali Parker leads her team with six points.
One to Watch: The marquee matchup this weekend
takes place in River Falls, where UW-Superior visits the
Falcons. UW-River Falls looks to continue its undefeated ways
while the Yellowjackets grind through one of the toughest
first-half schedules in the nation.
