St. Scholastica’s Anderson and Adrian’s Czarnowczan
Pick Up NCHA Women’s Hockey Weekly Honors

College of St. Scholastica sophomore Rachel Anderson (F - Shoreview, Minn.) is the NCHA Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Adrian College senior Shelly Czarnowczan (D - Shelby Township, Mich.) is the NCHA Women’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Anderson is the second Saint to earn NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors in a row, powering her team to a sweep of Northland College with a strong offensive showing. She played a role in seven of her team’s nine goals on the weekend, finishing with an impressive 7-point haul (1G/6A) in the sweep. In addition to a pair of 3-assist outings in back-to-back nights (setting up each goal in a 3-0 win Friday), she also had the game-winning goal Saturday.

Czarnowczan is the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts on both sides of the ice in Adrian’s weekend sweep of Trine University. In addition to helping out a defense that posted back-to-back shutouts, Czarnowczan also put on an offensive display. On Friday, she assisted three of the four markers in the 4-0 victory and followed that up with a goal Saturday.

Brianna Buchanan, Adrian
Buchanan scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist in Adrian’s 4-0 win against Trine on Saturday, and then added another assist in the Bulldogs’ 3-0 win over the Thunder on Sunday. She also finished the week with a +4 rating.

Madi Chapman, Concordia
Chapman scored her first two collegiate goals in the Falcons 6-2 win over Marian. The sophomore scored the game-winner with her second goal, giving the Falcons their first conference win of the season.

Lauren Michael, St. Norbert
Michael went 2G-1A-3 PTS in Friday’s 5-3 win over Finlandia and then followed with 1-2-3 in Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Lions.

Hailey Miller, Marian
Miller had a three-point weekend as she helped Marian earn their first conference point of the season. Miller had a hand in both Marian goals in the opener with a goal scored and an assist on the game-tying goal. She then scored the first goal of the game for the Sabres in the finale of the series.

Greta Nundahl, St. Scholastica
In a weekend sweep of Northland College this weekend, the defenseman recorded goals in both contests.

Christina Pattengale, Concordia
Pattengale started both games in goal for the Falcons against Marian. The senior had 36 saves, allowing four goals as Concordia tied in the first game and won in the second.

Lindsey Strainis, Marian
Strainis had another busy weekend in goal for Marian against CUW making 73 saves to go with a 3.40 goals against average and .912 save percentage. Strainis had 38 of her saves come in the finale of the series.
